Workplace
Flexibility: Ensuring Success for the 21st Century Sodexo,
KPMG, CCLC, and McGladrey become "Business Champions" in National
Campaign
 Corporate Voices would
like to congratulate Sodexo,
KPMG LLP, Childrens' Creative Learning Centers, and
McGladreySM for
joining our workplace flexibility campaign and committing their support for
Corporate Voices' 2010 Statement of Support for Expanding Workplace Flexibility.
They join AOL, Baxter International Inc., Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Workplace
Options, and a growing number of businesses that recognize the value
of workplace flexibility. Workplace flexibility practices enable businesses to
modernize the workplace to meet the needs of the 21st century
workforce so that working families and businesses can be more productive, more
competitive, healthier, and happier. Corporate Voices launched
this campaign on June 28, after the White House announced at a first-ever
Forum on Workplace Flexibility in March that it would lead a campaign to
engage the business community and create a broader awareness of the positive
business and employee benefits of workplace flexibility. We are now inviting all
of our corporate partners to sign our Statement of Support for Expanding
Workplace Flexibility and lead the business community in this
effort.
When your company signs the Statement, it will become a "Business
Champion" for workplace flexibility. It will be recognized at a high-level
meeting at the end of the campaign, will be invited to regional flexibility
events around the country, and will receive a workplace flexibility logo and
Business Champion seal to place on your company's website acknowledging this
status. For more information
about the campaign and how to join, please visit: www.corporatevoices.org/our-work/flexcampaign.
We have also created a
Facebook Group for this campaign-show your support by joining
the Group and participate in an ongoing discussion on workplace flexibility!

Corporate Voices Participates in June Earn and Learn Working Group Conference
Corporate Voices recently participated in the June Earn and Learn
working conference. The meeting provided the opportunity for group members
to give input and additional information on the "business
micro-cases" being written
on the promising
business practices of employer-led models of talent
development that support young people in postsecondary completion.
As we research these
promising
practices, we are
identifying consistent
characteristics that might be
adopted by other employers. Thereby, we can encourage the growth and scaling of
these outstanding practices, which will serve both working learners and
employers in their talent development practices.
Within our
early
findings, best practices
have been
enumerated into the following
categories:
- Business
Imperatives
- Program
Types
- Educational
Partners
- Corporate
Culture
- Data/Metrics
A lively and
informative conversation ensued around the specific questions posed to the
working group. For a list of the questions that were discussed, please click here. To listen to the complete, one hour, conference
meeting click here. |
Corporate Voices
Becomes an Advisor to Latino Infant Nutrition
Initiative
Infant
Nutrition and Health Seen as Keys to Future Healthy
Workforce
According to the
U.S. Census Bureau, Latinos are projected to remain the largest population
group comprising 30 percent of the population through mid-century. Recognizing that good infant
nutrition and feeding practices will affect the health of tomorrow's population and workforce, Latino Health Communications has begun the Latino
Infant Nutrition Initiative (L.I.N.I). The initiative will identify and provide a framework of
best practices for Latino infant nutrition as a strategy for obesity prevention. L.I.N.I will also seek to motivate research, education, and policy action
to improve infant nutrition and health in the Latino
community.
Corporate Voices has
joined L.I.N.I as an Advisor, along with LifeCare, Inc, Working
Mother Media, National Latino Children's Institute, and the National Institute of
Child Health and Human Development, among others. It joined a conference call on
Thursday, July 8, to discuss an overview of the project and how the diverse
group of partners and advisors-from health policy experts and medical
associations to business groups-can work together to achieve L.I.N.I's
goal.
Of particular interest
is Corporate Voices' work on workplace lactation and how the initiative can
incorporate this work into improving infant health and nutrition more
widely.Staff of Corporate
Voices will also attend an Expert Consensus Summit on July 27-28 in the
Ann Arbor, MI area to meet with the experts, partners,
and advisors of the initiative to analyze the existing research and compare
experiences to develop a prevention strategy in the
fight against childhood obesity. Please stay tuned for updates in the coming
months about how the business community can become involved in this
effort. |
