In conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau, Corporate Voices for Working Families, WFD Consulting, WorldatWork, the Society for Human Resource Management and the Twiga Foundation conducted focus groups with employers in specific sectors of the economy to understand their experiences and results with implementing flexibility.

A corporate tax advisory services firm establishes myRyan, an innovative flexible work environment that measures performance based on restults achieved, not hours worked. Within a couple years, the firm has dramatically reduced turnover, and has increased employee morale and commitment.

Corporate Voices, in partnership with WorldatWork, the Society for Human Resource Management, WFD Consulting and the Twiga Foundation, conducted virtual focus groups in conjunction with the National Workplace Flexibility Dialogues organized by the U.S. Department of Labor's Women’s Bureau. These focus groups gathered data on how flexibility is implemented and the business impacts of flexibility across different industries.

In 2005, Corporate Voices published the original “Business Impacts of Flexibility: An Imperative for Expansion,” a ground-breaking report which compared internal business data from 29 companies to find that the business benefits of flexibility were real, and were only partially realized. Corporate Voices has updated and re-released this report, in which we continue to document the business benefits of workplace flexibility, as well as its growing role as a strategic business imperative for domestic and global enterprises.

These are the recommendations submitted by Corporate Voices to the Senate Staff Working Group on Workplace Flexibility in June 2009.

This study examines the benefits of workplace flexibility for hourly workers and employers. The data for this comprehensive report highlights best practices for implementing innovative flexibility programs. Innovative Workplace Flexibility Options for Hourly Workers was researched and written by WFD Consulting and was supported by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
