Integrating Corporate Silos Webinar, March 28, 2012

On March 28, 2012 Corporate Voices hosted a webinar featuring Alice Campbell, Senior Director of Global Community Relations, about how Baxter International Inc. is creating strategic, corporate advantages by examining and coordinating their corporate responsibility initiatives with internal and operational expertise. Also highlighted on the webinar is Corporate Voices' Integrating Corporate Silos Initiative, which calls on business executives to commit to aligning business talent strategies with corporate social responsibility initiatives to synergize their mutual goals of retaining a skilled and prepared workforce and having a deeper, positive impact on individuals and communities.

This webinar is the first in a series of events on how leading-edge employers are creating the business case for a shared vision around talent and community development. These events, including a session at the HRO Today Forum in April, will culminate at the 2012 COMMIT!Forum in New York on October 2-3, 2012.

Business & Community College Partnerships Blueprint Focus Group, January 10, 2012

On January 10, 2012, Corporate Voices held a focus group webinar with the Learn and Earn Working Group, Community College Advisory Board and other leaders to discuss a new publication under development, Business and Community College Partnerships: A Blueprint. Cutting-edge leaders from across the country provided their guidance and expertise on the fundamental elements of successful business and community college partnerships to enrich the content of the document.

Learn and Earn Business Leadership Team Meeting, June 17, 2011

The Learn and Earn Business Leadership Team convened during Corporate Voices' Annual Meeting and 10th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, June 17, 2011.The Leadership Team consists of leaders who come together to share promising practices in business-led, talent development models that help workers attain their postsecondary education. Six companies participated in this in-person meeting, where the group reviewed and suggested improvements to the Employer Practices that Support Postsecondary Completion Matrix. Corporate Voices’ staff also provided the Team with opportunities for involvement in high level conferences and research throughout 2011. Leadership Team members were energized by the momentum of the Annual Meeting and expressed interest in using this momentum to move their work forward.

Learn and Earn Business Leadership Team Web Conference, March 17, 2011

On March 17, 2011, the Learn and Earn Business Leadership Team convened via a web conference for its first quarter meeting in 2011. The Leadership Team consists of leaders who come together to share promising practices in business-led, talent development models that help entry-level workers attain postsecondary credentials with value in the labor market. In this web conference, team members reflected on accomplishments of the Learn and Earn work over the past year and discussed 2011 goals for Corporate Voices’ Learn and Earn initiative, under continuing support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Learn and Earn Business Leadership Team Conference Call, June 24, 2010

The Learn and Earn Business Leadership Team June conference meeting provided the opportunity for group members to give input and additional information on the “business micro-cases” being written on the promising business practices we are identifying of employer-led models of talent development that support young people in postsecondary completion.

As we research promising practices, we are identifying consistent characteristics that might be adopted by other employers. Thereby, we can encourage the growth and scaling of these outstanding practices, which will serve both working learners and employers in their talent development practices.
